Secrets – Not always a bad thing

Scripture: Deuteronomy 29:29 – “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
Observation: God retains some things from Human minds.  Others he reveals to people.  He gave these things not only to them but to future generations so that we may follow him better.

Application:  While Paul says the law contained no power to save, having more information makes the inductive gap smaller for believers.  We believe but are able to understand and follow better because of a deeper knowledge of God.  As we gather more information, we understand how God makes decisions and the flavor of our lives can change to look more in line with his wishes.

Often, keeping secrets harms relationships.   We need awareness of our limitations and understand that finite cannot understand infinite.  This understanding results in humility.  We own proper knowledge of the substance inside us.   We have to trust God and his motives.  Does God want what is best for us?  Is God good?

Prayer:  God, I want to know your heart.  I realize that some things must remain secret.  Please give me what I need to know.  More importantly, let me trust you when I don’t know everything.
