Sufficiency

Scripture:

2 Corinthians 9:10-12

10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

Observation:

God supplies all of our needs.  However, in this passage, I find it interesting God not only supplies need but He enriches His people to be a blessing to others so thanksgiving to God can be produced.  The goal doesn’t end in meeting needs but in giving thanks to God.

Application:

Church planting has its ups and downs.  Financially we struggle and then God provides.  He provides at just the right moment.  He doesn’t just provide to meet our needs.  He provides so that Hope Community can be a blessing to others.  We want to share Christ with as many people as we can.  The goal must lie in pointing people to Him.

Prayer:
Dear God,

Please meet the needs of your church.  We need you and need you to pay the bill you asked us to write.  You own all and alone are the provider.  Please help us to remember that fact.

As we do, let us care more about people than about what they can give.  Let our actions and words see them changed because we want more for them than what we want for ourselves

God, be our sufficiency!

Your Child,

Danny
