I don’t claim to be a parenting expert. I also don’t claim to have my oldest son figured out. We act too much alike for that to happen (I haven’t figured myself out). However, one thing I realized. I wish someone had encouraged me to write and to put my feelings into ink long before now.
So this week, Aidan began blogging. Nothing big and nothing for human consumption (outside our family) but he started writing. His first post was about Alvin and the Chipmunks (a movie we went to see together).
I hope this will accomplish a few things. First, I want him to feel free to express himself and learn how through words. Second, it will keep him in shape during the summer when it comes to reading and writing. Last, I hope it gives us something to connect on together as we create stories, pictures, memories for his blog.
What are you doing to connect with your kids?
